Maison Courvoisier—the cognac house founded by Félix Courvoisier in Jarnac, France, in 1828—isn’t resting on its laurels. After unveiling a whole new look for its three standard cognacs in early 2022, the iconic brand is back at it with the release of its new XO Royal, an ultrapremium cognac that honours Courvoisier’s long association with Europe’s royal courts. The XO Royal is made from Fins Bois de Jarnac blended with Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie from the region’s most notable vineyards. In a teardrop-shaped bottle topped with a glass stopper embellished with facets, Courvoisier’s XO Royal is meant to be enjoyed during the most regal of evenings.

With the last 4 years of maturation spent in a Fino cask, this whisky from Dailuaine distillery is deliciously savoury with notes of green olives, marmite, samphire.
Rarely seen as a single malt, which allows independent bottlers to present this spirit to whisky lovers, Dailuaine spirit is heavy and meaty thanks to the long fermentation period, quick distillation and the use of stainless steel in the condensers.
Based in Aberlour in Speyside, Dailuaine was once the largest distillery in the region and, although that’s no longer the case today, capacity was increased by 25% in 2012.
Nose:
Green olives, peanut butter, marmite, ripe banana, cigar box.
Flavour:
Anchovies, tobacco leaf, seaweed, samphire.
Finish:
Honey, ginger, waxy fruit.
Finished in a Granada rum cask since 2019, this bottling from Fettercairn distillery features notes of barbecued bananas, pineapple upside down cake and lemon zest.
Fettercairn is a highland distillery sat by the Cairngorm Mountatins.
Given the equipment and production style, it’s easy to see why a firm, relatively heavy, nutty style whisky is created. Furthermore, between 1995 & 2009, the condensers were made of stainless steel, adding a slightly burnt, pot ale character to the new make. However, a cooling ring at the top of the swan neck, spraying cold water down the still sides, helps reflux and guides the spirit towards a lighter profile.
Nose:
Barbecued bananas, mineral notes, pampas grass, sherbert lemons.
Flavour:
Coastal notes, miso, chalk.
Finish:
Pineapple upside down cake, gooseberries, lemon zest.
Waterford Gaia is the only certified organic Irish whisky and is made from organic Irish barley grown at six farms. The bottling is part of Waterford’s Arcadian Series, which showcases the flavours produced by traditional ways of farming and rare barley varieties. Gaia 2.1 is the first release from Waterford’s second organic harvest, grown in 2016.
This Whisky has a rich texture with notes of fruit salad, fig rolls, marshmallows, grapefruit, orange zest and cherry, a slight touch of salted peanuts and liquorice with a long and complex finish. It is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water.
From an era of unapologetic industrial ambition that built skyscrapers, the internet and age statement whiskies comes the Decades Series of J.P. Wiser’s. Slowly, over time, every drop of this whisky distilled in 1982 has been delicately refined to the highest standards. Here is to the shores of the tempestuous Windsor, alongside the cultural shifts that changed the face of the modern world! Dark gold in colour, with notes of rich vanilla, complex crust zest and baked rye bread.
With the last 3 years of maturation spent in a PX cask, this whisky from Ardmore is beautifully complex with notes of tobacco, raspberry jam, cardamom pods and honeycomb.
A substantial Victorian distillery, Ardmore has scale which is surprising given its gentle rural surroundings. It is also unusual due to the style of whisky it produces – a peated Highland malt.
Nose:
Cigar box, tobacco, subtle peat smoke, cayenne pepper.
Flavour:
Raspberry jam, figs, fruit jelly.
Finish:
Cardamom pods, honeycomb, crème brûlée.
Our limited edition seasonal whiskies have been a great way for us to showcase our spirit style in a variety of different casks to reflect the farming calendar. Our Third Crop will be the last, completing the trilogy.
Sowing Edition embodies springtime on Lochlea Farm when we sow the fields with barley seed. The days start to stretch, the daffodils pop out to say hello, and we begin another year of growing barley for our single malt whisky.
Like the First and Second Crops, Sowing Edition Third Crop has been matured in 100% first-fill Bourbon barrels. We’ve found over the years that our spirit works particularly well in this type of cask, as the apple notes in our new make complement the vanilla flavours typically found in Bourbon barrels.
This whisky opens with flavours of almonds and rose petals on the nose, developing into a vibrant burst of apple blossom underpinned with white pepper and crisp pear on the palate. The finish is gentle, with notes of warm straw and freshly-cut grass.
Sowing Edition (Third Crop) is non-chill filtered with no added colouring.
